New album, Hardly Matters, out now!
Based out of Austin, TX, Beth Lee grew up on the grit and soul of the Houston music scene, her dad a long time musician of the Bayou City. Since recording her first album in 2008, Lee has been playing her evolving blend of blues, soul, country, and rock 'n' roll in the studio and onstage with a handful of Capital City’s best. You can find her playing intimate solo shows of soulful originals, or with her rock ‘n’ roll band Beth Lee & The Breakups. Her last album, Waiting on You Tonight, produced by Chuck Prophet & the Mission Express drummer Vicente Rodriguez, utilized even more of her diverse influences, from her nineties love of the ethereal vocals of Hope Sandoval, to the pop-friendly melodies of sixties girl groups, and the southern soul of Stax Records. It received praise from Glide Magazine, Americana Highways, and No Depression, among others - “An 11-song sequence that highlights the Austin-based artist’s songwriting craft and performative charisma, Waiting on You Tonight emerges as one of 2021’s early benchmarks for Americana album of the year”- No Depression. Beth Lee’s new LP Hardly Matters, a followup with producer Rodriguez, was released October 25th.
“In an era of tumult and needless divisions, Beth Lee’s Hardly Matters is an album for the ages, one which she’s been building towards throughout her storied career. Her lineage has always had music entwined in its very fiber and Lee pays tribute and does that history proud in this new album. If you only pick up one LP this year, do yourself a favor and make it Hardly Matters. And remember one important bromide…It’s all in the voice.” - Vents Magazine
“Beth Lee has one of those voices that one never tires of, a mix of charm, sensuality, and defiance, belting out her original hook-laden songs” - Glide Magazine
“This is bracingly smart music. A meticulous pop tune that’s well-arranged & wonderfully sung. When Beth needs to rock out with themes of anxiety & worn-out situations — she adds enough hope to clothe a naked heart.” - Americana Highways
